What I gained with a new number / What I lost with a new number

I got a new phone number, it’s great!

I no longer have to deal with a deluge of political spam from when I donated to a politican 10 years ago!

No longer I have pig butchers and cons text me about meeting for some tech event nearby.

I no longer get fake texts from robinhood, coinbase and any other website that was hacked in the last 5 years either.

It's great!

I got a new number, it kinda sucks!

I keep getting texts from people I don’t know.

I suddenly got access to some guy’s WhatsApp, Partiful and other text-focused signup services.

I get calls from his grandmother sometimes, even when I tell her they changed their number.

I get text notifications from Tinder and Uber apps sometimes, playing whack-a-mole to disconnect.

It sucks!

I hope the next guy who gets my number doesn’t need to feel the same, but we know there are no resets, no automatic signouts and definitly no context when getting recycled numbers.
